Encourage and allow the reader to provide their own speculation and theories; don’t force your own and reduce the possible dimensions of the fiction.
This is related to the author not necessarily knowing the truth and seeing the monster.
A central joy of fiction is the activation of existing material in the reader’s own mind. It should be something of a shared experience, not a one-way dictation.
